Why Runda is Nairobi's finest

Runda was developed in the 1970s on the northern fringe of Nairobi as a planned, gated community for diplomatic and corporate senior staff. Today it houses ambassadors, UN country directors, multinational CEOs and the most senior government officials.

The suburb is defined by enormous plots — most well over half an acre — mature indigenous and exotic trees, and near-total silence despite being 20 minutes from the city centre. The Runda Forest adjacent to the estate provides extraordinary birdwatching within the Nairobi city boundary.

Short-stay villas in Runda are genuine houses — not apartments — typically 3–5 bedrooms with full domestic staff, swimming pools and gardens. They are priced accordingly and worth every shilling.

Runda is 20–25 minutes from Westlands and 30 minutes from the CBD. It's best accessed by car or private driver. Rideshares operate but drivers may be less familiar with internal estate roads. JKIA is 35–40 minutes via the Expressway.
