Phuket's beaches at a glance
Phuket has more than 30 beaches, each with a distinct character:
Patong — the main resort beach. Lively, loud, everything available. Great for first-timers who want options.
Kata & Kata Noi — beautiful beaches, excellent surfing in monsoon season (June–October).
Karon — large bay, quieter than Patong, good value.
Bang Tao & Surin — Phuket's most upscale beaches. Beach clubs (Catch, Café del Mar), luxury villas, Laguna resort complex.
Rawai — local fishing village on the southern tip. Excellent seafood restaurants, quieter pace, good for longer stays.
Kamala — mid-range, family-friendly, good balance.
For villas: Bang Tao and Surin offer the finest pool villa stock in Thailand. For budget: Kata and Karon. For nightlife: Patong.
