Oltrarno — 'the other side of the Arno'. Less touristy, artisan workshops, the Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, excellent restaurants.
Santa Croce — east of the Duomo. The Basilica (Michelangelo's tomb, Galileo's tomb), the Leather School, local market.
