Dubrovnik: where to stay
Old Town (Stari Grad) — inside the ancient walls. Extraordinary atmosphere, marble streets, sea views from the ramparts. Expensive and noisy in summer.
Lapad — the resort peninsula west of the Old Town. Beach, hotels, pine forests, quieter than the Old Town, easy bus connection.
Ploče — east of the Old Town, below the walls. Sea views, quieter, walking distance to the Old Town gates.
Cavtat — a charming village 18 km south of Dubrovnik. Far less crowded, beautiful bay, regular boat connections.
Getting around Dubrovnik
The cable car up Mount Srđ (views of the Old Town and islands). Bus 6 connects the Old Town, Lapad and Gruž Port. Water taxis to Lokrum Island (swimming) and the Elaphiti Islands. Dubrovnik Airport is 22 km south — 30 minutes by bus or taxi.
