Diani: layout and orientation

Diani Beach Road runs the length of the strip parallel to the ocean. Properties are either on the beach side of the road or a short walk behind it. Restaurants, dive operators and supermarkets sit along the road between stays. The southern stretch toward Galu Beach is where kite conditions are strongest. Colobus monkeys cross the canopy via rope bridges throughout. It is a destination you settle into rather than depart from each day.

Access

Fastest route: light aircraft from Nairobi Wilson Airport to Ukunda airstrip, approximately one hour, landing minutes from the beach. Overland: fly or take the SGR to Mombasa, then drive south via the Dongo Kundu bypass, which has removed the Likoni ferry wait entirely. On the strip, tuk-tuks and bodas handle all local movement.
