Lagos has extraordinary short-stay apartment stock — but the city is vast, traffic is legendary, and choosing the wrong area can cost you hours every day. This is the definitive area guide.

Victoria Island — the business choice

Victoria Island (VI) is the de facto centre of Lagos's commercial, diplomatic and lifestyle activity. It is a planned island connected to Lagos Island by bridges, housing every major Nigerian bank headquarters, international embassies, the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and the city's finest restaurants.

Best for: Business visitors, first-time Lagos visitors, anyone who wants the full Lagos experience without navigating the sprawl.

What's here: Bar Beach, Eko Atlantic City (Africa's most ambitious real estate project, reclaimed from the Atlantic), Nok by Alara, Craft Grill, all major banks, US Consulate and European missions.

Admiralty Way is lined with the best restaurants in Nigeria — Spice Route, Sage, Nok, Shiro, Fireplace and dozens more. The apartment towers on Admiralty Way and the surrounding streets offer some of Lagos's most modern short-stay stock at slightly better value than VI.

Best for: Longer stays, younger professionals, anyone who wants the best Lagos food scene at their doorstep.

Lekki Phase 2 is newer and quieter with more modern builds. Chevron/VGC offers gated estate security. Ajah is more affordable but requires more planning for transport.

Typical prices: ₦80,000–₦220,000/night (1 bedroom). Best value in the VI-Lekki belt.

Best for: Senior executives, those prioritising security and quiet over nightlife proximity, longer stays at premium budget.

What's here: Parkview Estate, 1004 Housing Estate (iconic lagoon-view towers), quiet consular residences, excellent restaurants in Bourdillon Road area.
